Stewed Apples

This recipe is sweet, tart, warming and incredibly delicious. Honestly, this will make your oatmeal taste like apple pie. Add these stewed apples to vanilla ice cream, your oatmeal, pancakes or on toast with some nut butter.

1 1/2Tbsp

Ghee

3large

Apple

1tsp

Ground Cinnamon

1/4tsp

Allspice

1/4tsp

Nutmeg

2Tbsp

Maple Syrup

1pinch

Sea Salt

Instructions

Cut apples into cubes removing the core. You can leave on the skin or remove it. Whichever you prefer.

In a medium sized pot on medium heat allow the butter to melt. Add the apples and stir them until lightly coated in the butter.

Allow them to cook for 3 mins then add the cinnamon, all spice and nutmeg. Stir until apples are coated in spices. They will become very fragrant.

Continue to cook for another 3 mins then add the maple syrup.

Cook for approximately another 5 mins stirring frequently until the apples are soft.

Add them to oatmeal, pancakes, ice cream or toast.

Substitutions: For a sugar-free version omit the maple syrup. Add crushed walnuts or pecans for some healthy fat or protein. For a dairy free option use coconut oil instead of butter
