Apple & Sage Turkey Burgers

These fall inspired turkey burgers are made with shredded apple for sweetness, sage and topped with a slice of cheddar cheese. Serve them on a gluten-free bun if needed.

Preheat the oven to 350℉.

In a large bowl, combine the turkey, apple, onion, mustard, sage and salt and pepper. Mix to combine. Divide and shape the mixture into four equal burgers (about 5 ½ to 6 oz each). Set aside.

Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add a drizzle of olive oil for cooking. Once the skillet is hot, add the burger patties and cook in batches of two, for three minutes, flip and cook for another three to four minutes, until the burgers have browned.

Transfer the skillet to the oven and cook for nine to ten minutes, until the burgers have cooked through. Add the cheese on top during the last minute of cooking.

Spread some mustard on the bottom bun and top with the burger. Add some arugula and close the bun. Serve and enjoy!

Notes: No turkey: use ground chicken instead. Turkey blend: use a mix of dark and white meat for more flavour, or use all dark meat. Dairy-free: omit the cheese on top
